SEO Consultant in London
SEO consulting in London
I'm Deepak Shukla, an SEO consultant based in London and the founder of Pearl Lemon. Since 2016 I've built an agency of 80+ people doing this work every day, spoken about it at three TEDx events including Cambridge University, and taught it to more than 29,000 students. If you want someone who will tell you honestly whether SEO is the right channel for you — and what it will realistically take — this page explains how I work, what it costs, and how to start.
- One consultant accountable for the plan, with a 80+ person team delivering it
- Technical, content and links handled together rather than as separate suppliers
- Reporting against enquiries and revenue, not keyword counts
What an SEO consultant in London actually does
The job is to find the difference between where your site is and where the demand is, then close it in the right order. In practice that means a crawl and log-level technical review, a keyword and intent map against the pages you already have, a content and internal-link plan that consolidates rather than sprawls, and authority building that survives Google's updates. London businesses usually have one extra layer: local intent on top of national terms, so map-pack and location signals get their own workstream.
How I decide whether SEO is right for you
On the first call I look at existing demand for what you sell, how competitive the SERPs are, and your sales cycle. If paid search or outbound would produce a faster payback, I say so — I run those teams too. SEO is a fit when there is measurable search volume with commercial intent, your site can be changed, and you can wait four to six months for compounding returns.
What the first 90 days look like
Weeks 1–3: technical audit, keyword and competitor mapping, a prioritised fix list with effort and expected impact. Weeks 4–8: technical fixes shipped, existing pages consolidated and rewritten, internal linking rebuilt, tracking corrected so we can see enquiries rather than sessions. Weeks 9–12: new content against the highest-intent gaps, digital PR and link acquisition starts, first reporting against pipeline.

SEO consulting in London — frequently asked questions
- How much does an SEO consultant cost in London?
- London consultants typically charge £75–£300 per hour or £2,000–£10,000 a month. My audits start at £1,500, retainers at £3,000 per month with a three-month minimum, and hourly consulting is £300.
- How long does SEO take to work in a competitive London market?
- Technical work shows in crawling and impressions within 4–8 weeks. Movement on competitive commercial terms usually takes 4–6 months, and compounding results beyond that.
- Do you work with businesses outside London?
- Yes. Most clients are UK-wide or international; the London focus is simply where I am based and where a lot of the local work happens.
- Will I work with you or with your team?
- The strategy, the call and the accountability are mine. Delivery — technical fixes, content, outreach — runs through the Pearl Lemon team, with me reviewing the work.
